Shah Rukh Khan Faces Legal Trouble Over ‘Mannat’ Renovation

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has found himself in a legal battle after initiating renovation work on his iconic bungalow, ‘Mannat.’ Reports indicate that the ongoing construction has hit several roadblocks due to legal concerns.

According to international media reports, the renovation and expansion work at Shah Rukh Khan’s residence in Mumbai, ‘Mannat,’ has faced obstacles. Initially, the actor and his family moved out of ‘Mannat’ and temporarily shifted to a flat to facilitate the construction process. However, the expansion of the bungalow is now encountering legal hurdles.

A social activist has raised objections against the renovation, alleging violations in the project. The activist has urged the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to immediately halt the construction work at ‘Mannat.’

The complainant claims that the land where ‘Mannat’ stands was originally designated for an art gallery. Social activist Santosh Daundkar alleges that the development project has ignored legal regulations by repurposing the entire plot without obtaining the necessary approvals.

Furthermore, the activist has questioned the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) compliance, demanding clarification on the legal provisions that permitted Shah Rukh Khan to extend his six-story bungalow to eight stories. He asserts that the CRZ guidelines have been violated in the renovation plans for ‘Mannat.’

It is important to note that ‘Mannat’ is a Grade III heritage structure, meaning that any modifications to its structure require prior legal authorization. Any unauthorized alterations could result in severe legal consequences for Shah Rukh Khan.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has asked the complainant to provide concrete evidence supporting the allegations. The next hearing on this case is scheduled for April 23.

With this legal challenge unfolding, all eyes are on Shah Rukh Khan and the future of ‘Mannat.’ Whether the renovation will continue or face further legal scrutiny remains to be seen.
