Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially laid the foundation stone of Danish University, emphasizing that admissions will be granted purely on merit. He announced that the university will provide free education to underprivileged students, ensuring equal opportunities for quality higher education.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Prime Minister Sharif revealed that Danish University will have a dedicated endowment fund, to which the government will contribute significant financial support. He further stated that 100 acres of land have been allocated for the institution, and it is set to become a world-class university with top-tier faculty and state-of-the-art research centers.
Highlighting Pakistan’s existing educational excellence, the Prime Minister expressed his optimism about the project. “If all goes as planned, the first section of Danish University will be operational by August 14, 2026,” he announced.
He also disclosed that the university is being constructed at a cost of £190 million (PKR 60 billion). The Prime Minister extended his gratitude to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Chief Justice Yahya Afridi for their contribution in transferring the funds to the national treasury, facilitating this significant initiative.
Shehbaz Sharif assured that students from all four provinces will have the opportunity to enroll at Danish University, gaining access to world-class higher education regardless of their financial background.
