The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation has announced the hosting of a three-nation Kabaddi tournament next month, with India being officially invited to participate. The event is set to feature teams from Pakistan, India, and Iran, and will take place under the name of the Baba Guru Nanak Kabaddi Cup. This announcement was made during the General Council meeting of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation, which was presided over by the Federation’s President, Provincial Minister for Industry and Trade, Chaudhry Shafeeh Hussain.
During the meeting, the budget for Kabaddi events scheduled for this year was approved. President Chaudhry Shafeeh Hussain shared that the three-nation Kabaddi tournament will take place in April, where the national Kabaddi teams from Pakistan, India, and Iran will compete against each other. He further emphasized that sports, particularly events like this Kabaddi tournament, play a significant role in fostering better relations between countries.
Chaudhry Shafeeh Hussain stated, “Sports play a key role in promoting bilateral relations between nations. Unfortunately, the Modi government has refrained from sending Indian sports teams to Pakistan. However, we will make every effort to ensure that India’s Kabaddi team participates in the tournament.”
The Baba Guru Nanak Kabaddi Cup is a significant initiative, aiming to build stronger ties between neighboring countries through sports and promote peace and collaboration. The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation is hopeful that the Indian Kabaddi team will accept the invitation, making the event an opportunity for cultural exchange as well as competitive sportsmanship. This tournament will also serve as a platform to highlight the growing importance of Kabaddi in the region and encourage further international tournaments in the future.
This tournament, scheduled for April, will not only showcase the athletic talent from these three countries but also serve as a symbol of unity and friendship among Pakistan, India, and Iran. The invitation to the Indian team for the Baba Guru Nanak Kabaddi Cup is a positive step toward overcoming political barriers and using sports as a diplomatic tool to strengthen ties between the nations.
