India and Pakistan Reach Ceasefire Deal with U.S. Mediation, Paving Way for Future Dialogue
In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, marking a potential turning point in the historically tense relationship between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Taking to the social media platform X, Trump praised both countries for demonstrating what he described as “wisdom and maturity” in their decision to halt hostilities. He noted that the agreement was achieved under U.S. facilitation, underscoring Washington’s continued influence in South Asian geopolitics.
Trump said. “Both nations have shown remarkable restraint and understanding. Echoing Trump’s sentiments, U.S. Secretary of State also confirmed that the two nations are preparing for in-depth negotiations on a range of broader issues. These upcoming talks are expected to be held in a neutral location to ensure fairness and transparency in dialogue.
Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, confirmed the development during a press briefing. He reiterated that both Pakistan and India are committed to de-escalating tensions and finding common ground through dialogue.
Diplomatic observers see this ceasefire as a positive signal and a chance to revive stalled peace talks that could address long-standing issues, including border disputes, trade relations, and regional security.
