Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has accused India of launching missile attacks from its own airspace into multiple locations in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. He described the offensive as an unprovoked and cowardly act of aggression.
Pakistan Air Force responded promptly as they were on high alert to the Indian assault. Addressing the media, the DG ISPR stated that the He confirmed that five Indian aircraft and seven drones were intercepted and downed during the retaliation. The attacks reportedly targeted a mosque in Bahawalpur and another in Muzaffarabad, along with areas containing schools, madrasas, and a hospital.
According to sources cited by Express News, Indian missiles struck a building in Muridke housing educational institutions and a healthcare facility. In response, Pakistan has launched strong countermeasures, including the downing of two Rafale fighter jets and the destruction of an Indian brigade headquarters.
Security officials also confirmed the downing of multiple Indian drones attempting to breach Pakistani airspace at Shakargarh, Barnala and Kotli. Moreover, the Pakistan Army successfully targeted and eliminated key Indian military posts, including Sarlia-1 and the Dodanial sector post along the Line of Control (LoC).
Amid these developments, heightened security measures have been enforced across the country. An air emergency has been declared at major airports, including Islamabad International Airport, and civilian flight operations have been suspended.
This escalation follows a recent deadly incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people died, and India subsequently blamed Pakistan. In a further diplomatic strain, India also unilaterally revoked the Indus Waters Treaty.
