PSL 10 Matches to Resume Soon Amid Regional Tensions, Foreign Players Likely to Miss Out
The remaining eight matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 are expected to be finalized within the next 48 hours, according to sources close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The matches are likely to be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore, with the grand finale scheduled at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium.
Due to ongoing international cricket commitments and heightened regional tensions, several foreign players are expected to be unavailable. As a result, PSL franchises will primarily depend on local talent to conclude the tournament.
In response to heightened cross-border tensions between Pakistan and India, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) administration had earlier instructed franchises to retain their foreign players in Dubai as the tournament faced an unexpected suspension. However, with the recent announcement of a ceasefire, PSL officials have resumed coordination with franchise representatives, urging them to ready local players mentally and keep international players on standby for a possible reconvening in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the uncertainty has sparked concerns among Australian cricketers playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with some expressing reluctance to return to India due to security fears. A number of Australian players and support staff have already flown back home, and Cricket Australia has announced full support for those who choose not to rejoin the IPL.
Amid the geopolitical tension, the BCCI temporarily suspended Indian Premier League matches for a week. However, the board has since announced the league will resume from May 16, leaving the fate of several overseas players still uncertain.
